Raymond Frederick ( a senior at Hoggard High School) is off to a fast start for the Viking wrestling team. He currently holds a 12-0 record, and has yet to give up a take down this season. He has moved from 9th to 5th in the State Rankings after wins over several tough wrestlers. First he defeated 8th ranked Kalan Terry from Parkland High School by the score of 9-2 at the Terry Bache Duals. He finished with a 5-0 record at the Terry Bache Duals, thus earning him the Most Outstanding Wrestler award at the competitive tournament. The following week he defeated Daniel Hardison of Greenville Rose by a score of 8-4. Hardison was undefeated at 8-0 before that loss.
Cory Wagner (a junior at Laney High School) is off to a 12-1 start, with his only loss being an overtime loss in the Bulldog Invitational at Dixon High School.. Cory received the Fastest Pin award at the Terry Bache Duals after recording a :15 pin. He also recorded a 5-0 record for the day.
Phillip Frederick (a sophomore at Hoggard High School) is off to a 10-1 start, with his only loss coming to Parkland High School’s defending 4A State Champion, Adonis Wright in a 10-4 decision. Phillip won a Conference Championship last year as a freshman.
